Arad

March 2020

These pictures where made in the spring of 2020 when I spent three weeks as an artist in residence at the Arad Contemporary Art Center.

My practice is informed by research in the fields of human geography, urban planning, and globalization. For some time, my work has been centered on cultural landscape, that being chorology, the study of the interactions between people and place, or how a place effects people and vice versa.

I am interested in vernacular landscapes – everyday landscapes – because they are evocative representations of who we are and what we value. My work leads the viewer to consider the globalized commonality of the human experience in different places by presenting the beauty, motion and sounds that transcend their locales.
