Future Obsolescence was inspired by an irony. Germany has an international reputation for the production of green energy, but it is also the world’s third largest consumer of coal. The power plants in these pictures are located in Berlin residential neighborhoods. One can imagine that in the future these power plants will become obsolete. Perhaps they will be converted into museums, like the Tate Modern in London, or community spaces, or they may vanish from the landscape.
